Over 30 years of experience in building custom homes means we’ve come across every building and project challenge imaginable.

That’s why we created the 7-step process for every client so that the construction process of your new home is simple but efficient.

We’ve laid out all the steps below to give you an idea of the home building process – from concept to construction.

The best thing is that we will guide and advise you every step of the way. You’ll also be kept updated throughout every stage.

Step 1

Inquiry

We provide a FREE initial consultation service and site inspection to all new clients.

You can drop into our offices anytime to discuss what you need.

Step 2

Preliminary Survey and Brief

We organise a contour survey and complete an in-depth client brief.

If it’s a renovation, we’ll measure the existing home so our team can create the design.

Step 3

Site Inspection

We set up an appointment to complete a site inspection where we’ll personally take down a full brief including client’s budget, the size of the house, number of bedrooms, house aspect and other details.

We’ll adjust the plans if needed and draw up a cost estimate.

Step 4

Turn Brief Into 3D Design

We turn the brief and measurements into a 3D model, presented on a screen, so the client can experience the house layout virtually saving time and money during the actual building process.

Our sketch plans are easy to view and understand; they include technical details like elevations, isometric views and the site plan.

Step 5

Submit Plans To Council Or Private Certifier

The house plans are categorised either into a CDC (compliant development application) or into a DA (development application).

A CDC application is one where a private certifier approves all necessary documents; a DA (development application) is submitted to your local council.

We’re responsible for submitting all the necessary documentation to council or the certifier and liaising with different stakeholders.

Step 6

Approval Of Plans

Once the council or the certifier approves the house build or renovation plans, we accompany clients to a commercial wholesale showroom where they choose most of the fixtures of their new home.

Step 7

Complete HIA Agreement

The client enters into an HIA agreement with Oppidan Homes. We send plans to our construction team and building commences.
